Why Telephonic Coaching?
Everyone is so busy these days that, for reasons of time, cost, and scheduling, many people striving to improve their eating habits may not be able to go see Health Coach for face-to-face individual counseling.
Well, what about telephone counseling then? It's an increasingly popular and preliminary studies have reported that it's an effective strategy for behavior change. Now a research study in the August 2008 issue of the Journal of the American Dietetic Association indicates that counseling over the phone does indeed work.
Why does the telephone coaching work?
Telephonic coaching allows the coach to give expert advice consistently, and it creates a sense of accountability on the part of the participants, both of which paid off in increasing healthy behaviors and choices. Health Coaching outcomes:
· 52 percent of smoking-cessation participants remain smoke-free after 180 days, compared to 40 percent of those on medication alone.
· 56 percent of stress management coaching recipients reports a decrease in symptoms of excess stress.
· 47 percent report improved or better managed back pain after coaching.
· 95 percent of participants indicated an intent to improve their nutrition habits following nutrition coaching.
· 57 percent of weight management coaching clients who pursued weight management in conjunction with physical activity lost weight. Of those with a body mass index (BMI) over 30, 29 percent lost at least 5 percent of their baseline body fat, and 10 percent lost more than 10 percent of their body weight.
Benefits of hiring a Personal Coach:
Reportedly, one of the biggest drawbacks of a Corporate Wellness Program is the lack of consistency of the personal coaching program. Clients complete their risk assessment, receive their first coaching call, begin engaging in the coaching process only to find on the next phone call a new coach is speaking with them. It is not uncommon for a client to have 2-3 coaches over a 6-8 month period.
Hiring an individual coach alleviates that drawback. Brenda believes developing a client/coach relationship is paramount to successful coaching outcomes. Client frustration is eliminated; coach has familiarity with the client goals, objectives and growth to date. Whether you want to improve your health, keep fit, control your weight, quit smoking or learn how to manage stress, Brenda has a number of wellness resources for you.
Telephonic services are scheduled Sunday-Friday so you can more easily fit them into your busy schedule. Face-to-face services are provided at an additional fee; however, these appointments are very limited.
